"Life is what happens while you're making other plans."
Those words of wisdom, by an author unknown to me, have served me during many unexpected twists and turns that life has brought into my plans. Comfort Quilts "happened" while I was making other plans.
My first "scripture quilt" was born out of a desire to comfort a friend who was undergoing treatment for breast cancer. During her many months of treatment, her daily need for long recuperative naps inspired me to create a comforting quilt for her. I wanted her to know the comfort of God's love and my own. I hand copied scriptures of healing and encouragement on cloth and assembled them together with her favorite colors of patterned fabric. She was delighted and shared her quilt with the many friends she had made at the oncology treatment center. Soon I was making healing scripture quilts for many a recuperative nap.
Our own family loss inspired another Comfort Quilt project I called a "memory quilt". My son in law's loss of his father, inspired him to request a quilt for his mother, using his father's old shirts and denim jeans. His mother now wraps herself in the familiar comfort of her loving husband's old clothes. By word of mouth requests began to flow in for similar memory quilts.
Each Comfort Quilt is unique, whether you desire a Scripture Quilt or a Memory Quilt. I work closely with my customers to create a meaningful message of comfort for their loved one.
To create a Scripture Quilt you may select favorite scriptures or request a scripture theme such as healing, comfort in sorrow, encouragement or praise.
In the case of a Memory Quilt, I work with the customer to select fabrics from the clothing of their loved one suitable for our project. Then we choose a design that is meaningful as a remembrance for the recipient.
Les

Although his focus is mainly around the operations and success of Snake Ranch Relics, his woodworking passion presents items from reclaimed barn wood. He makes everything from Adirondacks to dining tables and feels great about each piece no matter how questionable some pieces may look. "Its easy for people to be critics so I don't focus on what people may think of my work. If it makes me happy then it will make others happy. I firmly believe most people hide their God given artistic talents because of what other people may think, its great to think that someone visiting this website just might be encouraged to take the next step in finding their artistic talent!"
Joe

Joe is an avid outdoorsman, and is even considered a great wanderer. He has gone to and continues to explore the farthest back woods in the southwestern states. He has been places that very few people have seen. He loves the forest and goes out "antler" hunting and "junk" collecting on a regular basis. I am sure he would captivate audiences with tales of his nature finds.
Joe grew up on a southwest Indian Reservation due to his father's employment with the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA). He learned quite a bit about various Native American crafting techniques. Joe has mastered the art of patience and no longer keeps track of the amount of time it takes to bring each piece to its completion. Sometimes he will even set a piece aside to wait for further inspiration. Snake Ranch Relics toured his shop in Arizona and found treasures never before seen. Pieces we are able to mention include intricate wood tables, Native American inspired art pieces and sculptures, barn wood curio cabinets, and various deer and elk antler creations including hat racks and lighting. He also supplies farming implements and tools that he has either found or purchased during his travels of the Southwest.
Joe is a rare find and we hope you enjoy his work here at Snake Ranch Relics.
Jaimie

Maybe the number one person to give thanks to for the dream of Snake Ranch Relics. The number one reason to always encourage others who are thinking of creating the next "masterpiece". Her art is the legacy she left behind for the world to enjoy. She loved art to a degree none of us might ever know. A portion of the profits from Snake Ranch Relics supports the Jaimie Marie Foundation. The foundation provides educational assistance by way of scholarships to art students who want to further their education. For more information or to make a donation, please call (760) 505-9949.
D-D

D-D (pronounced Dee Bar Dee) is an Arizona native and quite the woodworker. His specialty is creating pieces from salvaged barn wood found in the Arizona white-mountain area in which he creates highly demanded pieces that are great additions to any rustic décor. His passion for woodworking has even overflowed into the classroom environment where he was a wood shop teacher for several years. As if his woodworking talent wasn't enough he and his wife breed paint and quarter horses when other duties don't demand so much of their time.
We hope you appreciate and enjoy his works and talent as much as we do.
Jack

The man behind our signature barnwood luggage rest. His art was simple with the emphasis on durability. He wanted his luggage rests to be used and abused; to stand up to even the most abusive houseguest. If your in need of one please order one here at Snake Ranch Relics in the barnwood section.
